A stunning Japanese, late Meiji period tray and brush set, the hand painted tray is made from paper mache and lacquered and the curved brush is lacquered wood, and has a particularly nice patina to the handle, some wear from use over the years but in good order as pics show, the stunning hand painted design is mostly in gold and depicts an outdoor court scene with figures entertaining the emperor, with similar scenes on the brush handle
